An Attitude
While trying these methods, another subtle but significant change is taking place within participants: they are beginning to relate to languages, to acquiring languages, even to themselves, in a different way. The act of familiarising yourself with a new language, instead of resembling your teeth being pulled, will be more like tasting a delicious new treat. And, fortunately, developing yourself in languages will only add weight to your confidence.
We believe that the world of new cultures and languages are among the most fascinating phenomena that can be explored by human beings. Excellent language learners and children agree – a part of their being so capable at acquiring new idioms is their love for it. Since they enjoy absorbing language, they keep getting better and better at it and the continuous success makes them even more motivated to continue. As a consequence they will grow even more competent and confident. This process could be termed a ’virtuous cycle’ which you will have the opportunity to experience and absorb during the workshop.
Once you realize that you can simply allow yourself to play, (in a somewhat directed and goal-oriented manner) you will be relieved of stress, which will make your resources more accessible. The process of learning languages will present challenges at every level, but you will be able to resolve them with your new-found confidence and sense of delight.
